Customer Notice: Centre Re-Opening

Updated: Friday 28 May 2021, 09:50

As we continue to move through the steps of the Government roadmap to the easing of Covid-19 related restrictions, along with the initial sector specific guidance from the National Youth Authority (NYA) and updates to Scouts “Getting Back Together Safely” framework, we can now set out our plans for the next stages of re-opening our activity centres.

As you read these plans, please remember that dates are still subject to confirmation from the Government and NYA and that the supporting guidance notes for stage four are still being developed. For Scout users, please read in conjunction with the latest updates –

Our plan:

The first three steps of our plan have supported Scout Groups in the resumption of face-to-face Scouting with use of the centre facilities and introduction of a range of self-led activities. This will continue to be our core focus through to step four. In order to maximise the opportunities for all users, we will not be offering residential experiences for Scouts until step four at the earliest. We remain closed to other youth users until at least step four.

Step Four – Indicatively 21st June onwards

From step four, we plan to offer a limited number of activity days for educational users. In order to balance this provision with our delivery for Scouts, these will be non-residential.

We will review the provision of residential experiences for Scouts from the 21st June subject to the guidance issued by the NYA and Scout Association at their next update. We hope to welcome back campers in line with this guidance soon after.

The principles behind the plan:

Our re-opening plan is guided by the prevailing regulations at the time, dates are indicative not fixed.

We have an overarching risk assessment and operating procedures to ensure we are Covid safe, please ensure you have familiarised yourself with these as compliance to them will be a condition of any booking. These will be available on the downloads page of each centre’s website.

Activities available will be dependent upon the development of Covid safe operating procedures and existing programmes carried forward from prior bookings are likely to have to be changed.

Should you have an existing booking up to the end of August 2021 and these plans mean that we cannot deliver to your expectations, you can request a deposit refund or transfer to a later date from our bookings team.

Thank you for your continued support for Hertfordshire Scouts activity centres, we are excited to be welcoming you back over the coming months.
